ChatGPT users are reporting problems with the AI chatbot, including chats failing to load, errors when sending messages and issues accessing conversations on mobile devices.
If ChatGPT suddenly stopped working for you today, you may not be alone.
Users are reporting problems with OpenAI’s AI chatbot, with complaints involving failed responses, slow performance, errors and difficulties loading conversations. Some reports are particularly noticeable on the ChatGPT mobile app on Android and iPhone, where users may find that existing chats fail to load or the app remains stuck while attempting to connect.
At the time of writing, OpenAI’s official status history shows that ChatGPT experienced a service incident earlier today involving elevated error rates. OpenAI marked that incident as resolved, although third-party outage trackers continue to show individual reports from users experiencing problems.

The situation appears to be more complicated than a complete global outage.
OpenAI’s official status page currently indicates that the earlier ChatGPT incident has been resolved. The incident began at 12:04 AM UTC on September 3, 2026, when OpenAI reported high error rates affecting ChatGPT Work Mode, and OpenAI subsequently marked the affected services as recovered.
However, outage monitoring services are still recording reports from users experiencing problems with ChatGPT.
Recent reports include users in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Germany, Mexico, Malaysia, the Philippines and other regions reporting errors, slow performance or capacity-related problems.
This means the problem may be affecting users differently depending on their location, account, platform or the particular ChatGPT feature they are trying to use.

If the official status page shows an active ChatGPT incident, there is generally little users can do locally other than wait for OpenAI to restore the affected service.
For important work, save copies of prompts and responses locally whenever possible. A temporary outage can otherwise leave users unable to access an ongoing conversation.
